He sits on a number of Boards of Directors, (including Ontario Realty Corporation and Hong Kong Canada Business Association), maintains a boutique corporate law practice in Toronto, as well as owning and operating Toronto Writers’ Centre. He blogs regularly on legal matters for The National Post blog, Legal Post, selected as one of the top legal blogs in North America. Mitch also writes freelance articles on a variety of legal and non-legal topics. His pieces have appeared in Lexpert Magazine, The National, The Advocate, The Hong Kong Law Journal, The Globe and Mail, and The National Post.
For much of his legal career, Mitch practiced law with the Toronto office of international legal giant, Baker & McKenzie, before moving to one of the oldest law firms in Toronto, Aylesworth LLP. He was also part of the in-house legal department at the City of Toronto and Director of Residential Title Insurance Services at First Canadian Title, Canada’s largest title insurance provider. He is a former instructor for the Ontario Bar Admissions Course and, in 2008-09, he taught the Real Estate Transactions Course for the LL.M. program at Osgoode Hall Law School. He continues to speak at a number of conferences. From 2002 –2004 he was the author and editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths publication, Canadian Forms and Precedents: Commercial Real Estate Financing. Mitch received his B.A., M.A. and LL.B. from The University of Western Ontario and his LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991. He is a graduate of the Directors Education Program run by The Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto and has an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
